PCB Piezotronics Inc. is known for many years as a manufacturer of high-precision measurement microphones in accordance with industry standard IEC 61094-4. The application of such high-quality microphones for professional audio production is therefore a logical consequence. PCB Piezotronics has developed a phantom powered preamp model 426A14, which is designed for holding pre-polarized microphone capsules with 1/4 "and 1/2" diameter.

The unique design of the convertible model 426A14 allows the selection of any prepolarized microphone capsules according to industry standard IEC 61094-4, thus meeting a variety of needs in the recording studio technology.

Key Features

simpler and easier switching between 1/4 "and 1/2" microphone capsules according to industry standard IEC 61094-4

low inherent noise (<2 µV(A))

high bandwidth and fast rise time

extremely linear and low distortion

transformerloser, balanced output

low output impedance (<50 Ωs)

48 V, 24 V or 12 V phantom

Why measurement microphones in accordance with the industry standard in audio engineering?

Sound engineers, sound designers and acousticians need for high-quality professional audio productions increasingly microphone systems that meet standardized quality standards and ensure stable acoustic properties in changing enviroNments and enviroNmental conditions. To ensure quality, a calibration capability of the microphones is often required to ensure optimum compatibility and interchangeability between products from different manufacturers safe. At the same time trouble-free operation of the microphones to existing devices with 48V phantom power is imperative, since this technology has prevailed in virtually all recording studios. The industry standard IEC 61094-4 specifies besides electro-acoustic criteria, dimensions and dimensional tolerances of microphones.

All pre-polarized condenser microphones of PCB Piezotronics are compatible with the preamplifier Model 426A14. Each microphone capsule is manufactured according to the stringent standards of test and measurement applications and is supplied with an individual and traceable calibration certificate. PCB Piezotronics sets instead of plastic membranes in the manufacture of their microphones on a proprietary metal alloy, thus ensuring particularly long-term stable performance and a high degree of insensitivity to temperature, pressure and humidity.
